carry away | (be carried away) excite (be excited) somebody, make somebody emotionally involved and impressed: The audience was carried away by the actress’s performance. |
carry off | complete something successfully despite the difficulties: When the experiment was eventually carried off, the scientist received two prizes for it. |
carry on | continue, proceed: They carried on reading as if nothing had happened. |
carry out | complete a task: A group of scientists carried out the experiment successfully despite all the pessimistic predictions. |
